DESCRIPTION:

On Sunday, August 19th, join us for an online discussion about jobs and employment through an Autistic lens. Our discussion will be based on the book Unmasking for Life, the follow-up to Unmasking Autism by Autistic professor and advocate Devon Price.

Obtaining and reading the book is TOTALLY OPTIONAL! This discussion will focus on Chapter 4, “Work”. We will cover topics such as surviving under capitalism while Autistic, alternatives to work, when to self-disclose, and more. We will also share our own experiences and strategies to support one another.

As Price explains, Autistic masking is "an attempt at hiding [one's] disability that many undiagnosed Autistic people take part in", which often leads to harmful consequences. Unmasking for Life explores tools for navigating friendships, family, work and love in order to live one's best unmasked Autistic life.
