LGBTQ+ Resources

Autistic Adults often hold intersecting identities, including identities encompassed within the  LGBTQ+ community. Emerging research is showing a greater proportion of Autistics identifying as part of the LGBTQ+ community and experience greater diversity in gender and sexuality. Mainstream social norms and expectations regarding relationships and gender roles may not resonate for many Autistics, as we experience life and the social landscape differently than others. Typical gender and sexuality are shaped by social and cultural influences, however Autistics are more likely to question these standards and establish their own unique experience.

AANYC seeks to provide community and connection for the diverse range of Autistic adults, recognizing the importance of intersecting identities and inclusivity. We are particularly supportive and affirming of the LGBTQ+ community as many of our members resonate with diverse gender identities and sexual orientations.

AANYC hosts events for LGBTQ+ and Trans/Non Binary/Gender Non Conforming identifying members. Interested in attending? Join us!
