LOCATION: Chelsea & Virtual

DESCRIPTION:

On Saturday October 17th at 11am join us for a 2-hour hybrid workshop on Assertive Communication and Boundary-Setting, led by AANYC members and Autistic clinicians Heidi Mela, LCSW and Arlene Detchkov, LCSW.

Assertive communication is a valuable skill that many find challenging. These difficulties can be further amplified for Autistic individuals, who may face additional barriers in understanding our needs and boundaries, interpreting social cues, or expressing ourselves verbally.

In this workshop, we will cover basic guidelines for discerning and communicating personal needs and preferences, managing emotions, and responding effectively when others communicate a boundary. We will also practice communication strategies to help de-escalate conflict, with opportunities to apply these skills through role-play exercises in small working groups.
