LOCATION: Financial District to Staten Island
DESCRIPTION:
The Alice Austen House is a National Historic Landmark on the shore of Staten Island. It was the home of pioneer photographer Alice Austen (1866–1952) for most of her life. It is also a site of LGBTQ+ history, centered on the 55-year relationship between Austen and Gertrude Tate.
We’ll make a trip on transit including the Staten Island Ferry, which will take an hour total. Once we arrive at the house, we will go on a guided tour with a staff member. Right after the event, you have the option to join us for lunch nearby.
Please bring your own OMNY card/tap-to-pay method as we will be taking public transit.
