DESCRIPTION:
On Monday, June 16th, join us for an online discussion about Autism and unmasking. Our discussion series is based on the book Unmasking for Life, the follow-up to Unmasking Autism by Autistic professor and writer Devon Price.
As Price explains, Autistic masking is "an attempt at hiding [one's] disability that many undiagnosed Autistic people take part in", which often leads to harmful consequences. Unmasking for Life explores tools for navigating friendships, family, work and love in order to live one's best unmasked Autistic life.
This discussion will focus on the book’s introduction and Chapter 1, “Five Core Skills for Unmasking Your Life”. Reading these sections beforehand is suggested but optional; either way you will be able to follow along and contribute! We will review ideas and strategies from the book and share our own Autistic experiences and strategies.
