What is Discord?

Discord allows us to chat online in real time!

Discord is a social platform for desktop and mobile that supports text, video and voice chats. Autistic Adults NYC hosts a server for it’s members which serves as the main place for online hangouts and discussions.

What we do on Discord -

  • Text chat, separating conversations by topic into different threads (#casual, #events, #memes, #philosophy, and more!)

  • Voice and/or video chat

  • Play video games or DND together

  • Host virtual meetups, including discussions, game nights, and movie nights!

Our Discord server is only open to Adults (18+) who are diagnosed or self-diagnosed Autistic and live in the Tristate area (NY, NJ, CT). Our discord is not for promotion, asking questions to or soliciting to our community. If you have something you would like to share/ask, please reach out to info@autisticadultsnyc.org.

How to Join Our Discord Server

How to make an account, log in, access the Autistic Adults NYC server -

You’re in! But you need to complete a couple of steps before being able to talk and see our conversations.

1. Click on the box that says “Complete” at the bottom of your screen.

2. Verify your email if you haven’t already. You will receive a link in your inbox to click on after pressing “verify.”

3. Click on the checkbox under the rules, then click “Submit.”

4. You’re now able to write your introduction message! Click on #introduction, listed in the channels on the left of your screen.

5. Here you can write a message to introduce yourself to everyone in the server. Your message must include your name, where you live, your connection to the Autistic community and why you joined the group!

6. Once you’ve sent your message, a mod will let you into the server. This may take some time depending on how many mods are online.

Once a mod has approved your introduction, you’re officially in our Discord server! 🎉

Click on #Browse Channels on the left to find a description of the channels in our server.
