Alternative Expression 2026

Alternative Expression is a series of free creativity-based classes and events for the Autistic Community of NYC.

Description

Autism is often pathologized, and the different ways we express ourselves are often treated as dysfunctional or abnormal. The purpose of this program is to explore, celebrate and embrace alternative methods of expression and communication.

Our weekly classes will explore different interdisciplinary creative techniques, and culminate in a multimedia art exhibition in March of 2025. All of the classes are beginner friendly and require no strong commitments - attendees are welcome to pick and choose which classes they’d like to attend, and participation in the exhibition is optional!

All materials will be provided! Our classes and exhibit are held in the Chelsea Area and closed to members only. If you’re Autistic and interested in participating, please sign up for membership here. Membership and classes are free to any Autistic Adult.

This program is funded through a generous grant from the West Side Community Fund.
